We used to have all bidding end at the same time. This year, there are 3 Bid Groups, i.e., some auction items will close at 6:30, some at 7:15 and some at 8:00. Items not won will carry over to the next group.

Also known as “automatic” or “proxy” bidding, Maximum Bid enables you to set the highest dollar amount you’re willing to bid on a given item, and then sit back and allow Auctria to keep you from being outbid… but only up the maximum bid you specified. 

• What if someone bids more than my Maximum Bid? - Auctria will alert you by email or text message that you have been outbid. So, if this happens and you decide to increase your bid even more, you will have the chance to do so, but you should not delay if the bid closing time is near. (See Extended Bidding below.)

• Will Maximum Bid raise my bid needlessly? - No. Auctria will bid for you (the automatic or proxy function) but only enough to keep you on top. For example, you see fly rod you want, the opening bid is set for $75 with $5 bid increments and you’re willing to buy this rod for up to $150. You set your max bid a $150. In this case Auctria will place your bid at $75. When someone else comes in and bids $80, Auctria will automatically increase your bid to $85. This series of actions will continue until the bidding goes beyond $150, in which case you will not win the fly rod without going in and bidding more. 

• How should I think about Maximum Bid? - If you enter a maximum bid and you truly would not go above that amount, then you should not be too upset if you get outbid. You would have been outbid anyway, even without using Max Bid, if you were not willing to go above the amount you set. 

• Bottom line - You should enter your true Maximum Bid amount, be happy if you win and sanguine if you’re outbid. 

No one likes to be outbid in the last seconds of an auction, with no time left to rebid higher. Extended Bidding solves this problem. We set our Bid Extension rules such that, if a bid is made in the last 60 seconds of an auction item, the bid close time for that item will be extended another 2 minutes. This will give competing bidders time to battle it out to the end, and not be “sniped” by having no time to up their bid. Theoretically, this could go on forever; however, the chances of that happening are virtually nil. At some point the bidder willing to make the highest bid will win the auction. In practice, this is typically after one or two extensions. 

If you entered your credit card in registration, payment is automatic and you will be able collect your winnings right away. You may also pay by cash or check, which will take a few minutes longer.
